TIME Magazine - Bush approval 36%, down 2 from August.
AP-Ipsos poll: Bush approval 38%, disapproval 59%
Pew poll: Bush approval 37%
Dems have double digit generic ballot leads in all three polls. Iraq remains a major problem for Republicans going into the midterm elections. And in the TIME poll, 2/3rds of those surveyed believe the GOP leadership has tried to cover-up the Foley scandal.
The 9/11 anniversary "mo" is gone.
With their record on organized labor, taxation, war, the environment, and hypocrisy it is time to give neo-cons a new title. Democratic leaning independents are known as Progressives. Today’s far right politicians are the polar opposite. Therefore, they should be known as the Regressives.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any other ideas?
"Priorities ... Priorities ... We don't need no stink'n priorities!"
It’s amazing how the American media works. We have lost at least eighteen more American service people during the first few days of October and Shiite Iraqi death squads are conducting small scale ethnic cleansing.
So, what are all the talking heads and politicians focused on? Surprise! It’s another sex scandal. And it wasn't even real sex.
Florida Republican Rep. Mark Foley's instant message records indicate he is a dude who gets off on fantasy cyber sex with teenaged boys. I believe this is the first virtual sex scandal in Washington DC political history.
Back here in the real world, American men and women are killed, maimed and scarred, both physically and emotionally every day. War is hell. Finally, the mainstream media is beginning to support our troops by speaking the truth about their sacrifices. more
Regarding Foley:
ReplyDeleteArch (my hotline to the pulse of Limbaugh) is now claiming that the page in question was 18 at the time of the messages.
Any weight to this, or just more Rush-spin?
Thanks,
PT
I think, as far as new titles, RBE is on to something with the "bully and asshole" designation he used for a Jersey congressman.
ReplyDeletept, the "Page was 18" spin came from Drudge originally and got repeated by Rush, Ingraham, ad nauseum.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I can tell, it is not true but just another attempt by the hysterical right to muddy the waters of the isse (kinda like their assetion that the first subpoenas in the Foley investigation have to be issued to Rahm, Dean and Pelosi.) The page from Louisiana was 16 at the time Foley sent the emails to him. As for the other IMs, there are a few former pages who received the messages, but ABC said they were all under 18.
For the best source to cut through right-wing bamboozlement on the case, go to talkingpointsmemo.com and TPMuckraker.
reb 84 - I like it! Regressive is a great title and I'm going to use it in future posts if you don't mind.
nyc, bully and asshole really does encapsulate the way that fucker from NJ acted (again, if the allegations are true.)
