Jim Lehrer Believes Everything The Gov't Tells Him

Jim Lehrer on how he operates as a "journalist":

PBS anchor Jim Lehrer tells Australia public radio: "If somebody in the media just assumes everybody in the government is a liar, that's no way to operate. ...What happened in the Iraq situation as it happened in the Vietnam situation, that there just weren't that many sources, there weren't that many people who had information, and there were not that many people asking a lot of questions, or more importantly, there weren't a lot of people, enough people, who had answers that were reliable, believable, and credible, and it wasn't I don't think necessarily just kind of a kneejerk reaction 'Well if the government says it, it's got to be true', because I don't know of any professional journalist who believes that."

The ultimate result of Lehrer's kind of journalism was to give the Bush government a fact-free ride for six years, two wars and one natural disaster.

No wonder the News Hour is just like CNN these days.

The guy running the show is a gullible moron.

BTW, did you catch crazy-ass radio talk show host and chairperson of Move America Forward Melanie Moore on with Jimmy Boy the other day for a segment on how grass roots groups are trying to influence the Iraq war policy?

This would be the same Melanie Moore who has said that she "would have no problem" with New York Times executive editor Bill Keller "being sent to the gas chamber" if he "were to be tried and convicted of treason" for the paper's reporting of a Treasury Department program that monitors international financial transactions for terrorist activity and compared Media Matters to the Virginia Tech gunman who killed 32 people.

The News Hour w/ Jim Lehrer is so genteel.

Kinda like CNN on barbiturates.

Nonetheless, it's just as useless as a news source.

Listening to Lehrer pontificate about journalism, you can see why.

What an asshole.
