All's Quiet...Too Quiet...

No news to report on the Rove/CIA leak case front.

Byron York of National Review online slams Wayne Madsen's report yesterday that Rove will be indicted today, but that's not really news. Most blogs either ignored Madsen's report or dismissed it.

The "Rove frenzy" from last weekend and earlier this week has given way to mostly silence on the blogosphere. Only Jeralyn at Talk Left is speculating about the possibility of a Rove indictment today. The traditional media is completely silent on the matter.

For a little fun today, you can check out The Note for their inevitable "The CIA leak grand jury may meet today" blurb. But I don't think they know anything more than say, Wayne Madsen or Byron York, do about the case.

Special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald knows what's happening, of course. He knows whether he's announcing Rove's indictment today, whether he's announcing it later in the month, whether Rove has accepted a deal to tell tales on Cheney in order to lessen his jail time, or whether Rove has avoided indictment entirely.

You can check the special prosecutor's website here to see if he's going to hold a press conference today. I would imagine the announcement would go up sometime after 9:00 AM if he was going to hold a 1:00 PM press conference like he did in the Libby case on October 28, 2005.

I will update as warranted today.

So far, nothing to report but the silence.

UPDATE: The Note reports that "the grand jury investigating the CIA leak case is scheduled to meet at 9:30 am ET." No guarantee that Fitzgerald is working with the grand jury, of course. Remember that this particular grand jury is at the courthouse most Wednesdays and Fridays and is available for other prosecutors to work with as well. Plus the Note seems to report this bit of news nearly every Wednesday and Friday.

Like the refugees in Casablanca looking to obtain exit visa away from Vichy-controlled Africa, we continue to wait and wait and wait...

SECOND UPDATE: I doubt we will get any announcement today. It's nearing 10:30 AM here in New York and I think Fitzgerald would have already made the annoucement if he were going to hold a press conference today. The wait will go on even longer.

THIRD UPDATE: Mark Corallo, Karl Rove's spokesperson, told Jeralyn at Talk Left in an email that journalists staking out the court house told him the CIA leak grand jury did not meet today.

Comments:
Aw, applesauce.

The guy who leaked the story is probably a Rove stooge looking to wreak havoc on the likes of us.

I love the epithet, nyc educator. "Aw, applesauce" really put a smile on my face.

Yeah, maybe we got played. Maybe the problem was taking Leopold at face value. Or maybe the problem was Leopold got played and took his sources at face value.

Regardless, I have learned my lesson. If Fitz doesn't say it, it ain't gospel.
