Moronic

Rudy Giuliani will be the perfect GOP candidate to follow up the truly Herculean idiocy of the current Heritage Foundation interns running things in the Bush administration:

As for Iran, Mr. Giuliani said that “in the long term,” it might be “more dangerous than Iraq.”

He then casually lumped Iran with Al Qaeda. “Their movement has already displayed more aggressive tendencies by coming here and killing us,” he said.

Mr. Giuliani was asked in an interview to clarify that, inasmuch as Iran had no connection to the Sept. 11 attacks. Further, most of its people are Shiites, whereas Al Qaeda is an organization of Sunnis.

“They have a similar objective,” he replied, “in their anger at the modern world.”

Shorter Rudy: Sunni's, Shiites, what's the difference. Kill 'em all and let Mr. Jesus sort them out.

It's that sort of short-sighted, ignorant thinking that brought George W. and his merry necons into taking out a secular Sunni with no ties to Al Qaeda or 9/11 in order to prevent more 9/11's ( a terrorist attack launched by Sunni jihadis.)

I wonder if Rudy knows that the reason Iran is now more dangerous than Iraq is because he and his fellow Repubs supported George W. Bush's short-sighted war of choice against Iran's number one nemesis?

Probably not.

Remember when Republicans used to claim Democrats were the naive dreamers who didn't know the difference between dreamland and reality?

Now it's the Repubs who live in a necon fantasyland where all Muslims are the same and a policy of "Let's Fuck 'Em All Up" will work wonders in bringing "Democracy" to the Mideast and making the world safer for you and me.

Comments:
reality, both McCain and Giuliani are long shots for the Republican nomination.

There's way too much time until the primaries for the good of all the early entrants -- Republican and Democrat.

Soon, problems with their candidacies will emerge. They will either wither or vanish.

Which of them will win the Howard Dean Award for the speediest campaign flame-out? Who knows. But someone will win it.

Then we'll see who wins the John-Kerry-Come-From-Behind Award to win the nomination.

Fun for the whole family.

I think you're right in your analysis. But remember that in the GOP primaries, the front-runner, consensus candidate and favorite of the establishment almost always wins the nomination. Think Bush Jr. in 2000, Dole in 1996, Bush in 1988. Why isn't there a consensus candidate this time around, particularly after the disastrous '06 midterms?

McCain's already done, Rudy is fast imploding, and Mitt never took off. So much for the top tier.

Huckabee raised little money and his candidacy has gone nowhere. I don't understand why. He's a bonafide conservative, he's very good on tee vee, he's a southerner, he's smart and knows how to play to conservative audiences and general audiences...

If I were a conservative or a Repub, I would be supporting him. he makes the most sense and could actually win a general election.

Fred Thompson may be a bonafide conservative too, but a candidate has to really want to run for president and as far as I can tell, Thompson just wants to be wooed. He doesn't look like he's got the fire in the belly for it (which Pat Buchanan says is a MUST in order to get through the process.)

Giuliani is still the front runner. I think McCain will do better as the election nears, as will Romney, but you are both right: this one is a toss up.

RBE,

You should edit this unless it was sarcasm: ( a terrorist attack launched by Shiite jihadis.)

Tnaks, pt, it was a mistake.

Is Rudy still the front runner? With all the damaging info out about him and his statements about publicly funded abortions, I'm not so sure.

I can't remember which prognosticator did this (it might have been The Fix), but for this week's run down of GOP nominees, Rudy fell from # 1 to #2, McCain from #2 to # 3, Mitt from # 3 to #4 and the new # 1 for the GOP nomination was "No One."

I think that might be the case. Let's see what happens with the Thompsons. I campaign will take off, but maybe Fred Thompson will decide to run and his will.

I think no one is an excellent choice for the GOP. If I had to choose among republican candidates for president, that would certainly be my selection.

I'm w/ you on that. Eight years of Cheney's rule will be enough.

I go by the odds makers. I think where people put their money is a better indication of who is in the lead than polls or pundits.

If you are betting, Giuliani is still way ahead of the pack.

I think I would take that bet. I don't think Rudy will win the '08 GOP nomination. I just don't see how a candidate who just said he favors publicly funded abortions can win the GOP nomination.
