A Start

Senator Schumer gets the infrastructure disrepair problem:

Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York, called the Minnesota disaster a “wake-up call” and added, “For far too long, highways and bridges in New York and across the country have been allowed to degrade to the point of dangerous disrepair. The Senate has legislation to provide $5 billion for bridge replacement and rehabilitation – we will pass that bill and the president must sign it.”

Unfortunately I get the feeling that fixing the infrastructure problem will be another exercise in the "Let's Privatize It!" game Repubs have been playing for the last 20 years. Can't wait to see how selling the Thruway to a hedge fund will make the whole thing better.
